I'm sorry to hear that your cat is missing. Surveillance cameras can be a great tool for finding a escaped indoor or otherwise skittish lost cat. Check out this article for suggestions: https://lostpetresearch.com/2022/11/security-cameras-for-finding-escaped-indoor-cats/

hi I was hoping to find out if there is a way for me to use a mini camera if I can find one that I can place outside facing the street where I last spotted my missing cat . she ran away before I could get to her and I have been heartbroken ever since. I have already printed 45 colored flyers and I am offering a modest $100 reward but I haven't had any luck . one of the women that live in this neighborhood had spotted her but when I showed up she was already gone. I was hoping I could by a mini surveillance camera and try to mount it to a tree and have it face the street of the place I last saw her on . any suggestions.. I am starting to run out of hope :(

There is also documentation that red glow infra-red flash cameras are visible to (and will scare) deer. Chasing Game recommends mounting the camera up high and facing down. This puts it out of the line of sight of the deer. However, this also reduces the cameras PIR sensor range. This might be a good option for really skittish cats and dogs. However, in my experience it is a lot more difficult to accurately aim a camera from above and angled down. For more info, see their article here: http://www.chasingame.com/will-the-cameras-flash-spook-the-game/.
